fandom related Tall Poppies - This is a fanfiction recommendations journal, run by me and Moireach. All high quality fic, in as many fandoms as we have ever read, ranging from Jossverse to small fandoms like The Breakfast Club and Gilmore Girls.
Bright Shiny Objects - This is the best multifandom recommendations site out there, as far as I know. They read absolutely everything and have a knack for picking out excellent fic in practically every fandom. If you ever randomly get the urge to read, say, Arrested Development fic, or M*A*S*H fic, this is the first place to check.
narrowstreets.net - Fanfiction written by Kyra Cullinan, one of the best writers in fandom, IMO. She's written primarily in Buffy and Angel, but also in various other fandoms, such as Star Trek, Harry Potter, The West Wing, etc. Very highly recommended.
Yuletide - The Yuletide Obscure Fandom Secret Santa Project. This has been running for several years now, and is a massive undertaking that happens every Christmas. It's essentially a massive small-fandom ficathon, and so it ends up being an enormous archive of fic in very small fandoms, and it's of remarkably high quality overall, considering how many people participate. This is a great place to check if you're longing for, oh, say, a great piece of Donnie Darko fanfiction focusing on the teachers played by Noah Wyle and Drew Barrymore.
Better Buffy Fiction Archive - This is the archive for the Better Buffy fic group on Yahoo!. TONS of good Buffy fic here, and I think this is where I got most, if not all, of my recs when I had just gotten into the fandom. On the other hand, they tend to disproportionately favor gen, het, and Spike fic, so it's not a disinterested place. But it's a great resource. To get into this archive, five people had to recommend a fic, so the stuff here is all good.
Television Without Pity - Massive site that puts up humorous recaps of episodes of a large number of TV shows. Also, has extensive and very active forums where people actually spell correctly, which is a bonus. I have a little bit of a love-hate relationship with this site, as I think reading their recaps has ruined my enjoyment of some shows - on the other hand, if you missed an episode of something and want to find out what happened, or if you hate a show and want to read someone mocking it, it's a good time. Also, it's got a ton of stuff all in one place and I'm lazy. The forums are okay for fanfic recommendations, too, though mostly I find the forums really, really, really annoying. But whatever.
Livejournal - This is where pretty much all fandom activity happens, these days. Learn it, live it, love it.
random other fun stuff
Poetry 180 - Billy Collins, former Poet Laureate of the United States, put together this project, which is one poem for every day of the school year. Some of my favorite poems are here.
Bristopher Crowder - Excellent acoustic covers of a wide range of songs, many of them bad pop that is actually GOOD, in another musical context.
Blogpulse - A good resource for searching the world of blogs, including livejournal.
Dinosaur Comics - Really funny web comic.
Flickr - Webspace for hosting and sharing pictures.
Last FM - Tracks all the music you listen to and comes up with STATISTICS on it, gets you recommendations based on those, and lets you network with people, etc. Here is my account there.
The Vin Diesel Random Fact Generator - Possibly the funniest thing on the web. Each refresh of the page gives you a new random fact about Vin Diesel. Sample: "Leap years are caused by Vin Diesel holding the earth back from rotating."
