Connor Bluth had discovered his superpowers just after he had dropped his brother George Michael off at George Michael's girlfriend's house on Friday night.
Her days at Hogwarts get really busy, what with Quidditch practice and all the studying she and Hermione are doing for their N.E.W.T.s, not to mention the DA practices that she leads to train everyone to fight Voldemort. She hardly manages to fit in long moonlit strolls holding hands with her new boyfriend Harry.
His palms are kind of clammy, but she ignores that. The sun's been gone for forty-one days. Hannah's been counting. She thinks she has that, what's it called, Seasonal whatever, where you get depressed from not enough sunlight. Like in the winter.
"Everybody's dead and you think Seasonal Affective Disorder is why you're depressed?" Dawn says. She doesn't even look up from the text she's translating. "Besides, it's been forty-two days." Seth changes the names on the mailbox - crosses out Brooke's Ritter emphatically, and beside the Cohen squeezes in (& Moody) in the margin. Not that Moody ever gets any mail. The few times there's been an envelope for him it hasn't been put in the metal mailbox at all, but left in front of the door. Letters in green ink on thick parchment, occasionally charred around the edges. Moody becomes drastically edgier after these letters, so Seth is glad they don't come often.
Sixth year ended abruptly when Hermione blew up Hogwarts, forty-five Death Eaters, and Harry Potter in a blast of blue magical flame that could be seen at a distance of thirty miles.
Harry's Polyjuice problem began in sixth year through a combination of fatal factors, those being primarily: 1) overwhelming boredom in the face of being trapped at Hogwarts while everything important happened elsewhere, 2) Ronald Bilius Weasley and 3) Professor Snape leaving them alone with his supply cabinet for nearly twenty minutes while they were having detention in his dungeon.
There's a young guy just down from him who has big ears and a crooked nose in a way that reminds him strongly of Neville, so that Ron smiles at him without thinking.

George Michael is just thinking he should go find Maeby or his dad when they walk around the corner of the building and see Jon Stewart and Maeby standing there together, both leaning against the wall and smoking, like they're some of the kids at George Michael's high school who were always getting suspended.
As John's asking for more guitar on the monitors, Steve happens to glance towards the back of the room and sees Stephen Colbert leaning against the wall, smirking vaguely at the chaos on stage. When Steve catches his eye, Stephen raises one hand in a little wave. They haven't seen each other in over a year.
"No, you're not. You hate carrots," she says, crunching. He looks at her and raises an eyebrow. "Goddammit, BJ, if you write any more things I say into a script, I'll make Ryan gay, I swear to God."
Sarah opens her mouth to say what happened, but she can't think how to phrase it, and she realizes she doesn't actually want to talk about it, not at all.
They decide to date long-distance when Floyd moves to Cleveland. Which will never work out, obviously -- Liz gives it six months and feels like that's overly optimistic. It's depressing, but not as depressing as breaking up with him right now would be, so what're you gonna do.

Every so often she mails pictures to one of the many post office boxes he has around the country, and he goes to get them in dark glasses and a baseball cap. Samantha-Megan-this-week-Jessica accompanies him, but he hides the pictures from her. Too many questions. John Doggett's name appears in these letters more often than he would like, taking William to the zoo, the park, story-time at the public library. He wants to ask Scully if she and Doggett are sleeping together, but he never does.

"I have my sources," he said. "But honestly, Carla, if you're going to cheat on that overgrown six-year-old you like to call your husband, you can't find anyone better than Harriet?"
They saw a lot of death there in Korea, and BJ came back not quite the same, and he never talked about why. She watches them in the corner, the pair of them, wonders not for the first time what happened to them over there. As she does, Hawkeye turns his head and looks right at her, his face unreadable. She looks back at him until Erin's preschool teacher comes up to her and she has to look away.
It's one of those frigid days, the ones where it's so cold that in the operating room steam is coming up from the bodies in pale threads. When BJ cuts open a kid's belly to operate it's a relief to put his hands inside to fish out shrapnel, the boy's gut like a furnace, his fingers soaking in the warmth.
She looks at the tape and thinks about Slough, and gets a sick, sad feeling. She and Tim promised to write, but neither of them have, and she puts the tape on the top shelf in her closet and tries to forget about it.
"We don't have to be together all the time," Carl says, after their shift ends at work.
